The Managing Director of the Ports and Maritime Organization announced the arrival of the first batch of strategic equipment in Chabahar port by India by the end of the year

PMO News Portal - Regarding the latest status of unloading and loading of goods in the country's ports and also the amount of the basic commodities, Mohammad Rastad said: Since the beginning of this year, over 70 million tons of goods have been unloaded and loaded in the country's ports and the amount in warehouses and storage places is equal to 7.5 million tons, of which, basic commodities accounts for 3.5 million tons and other types of goods accounts for 4 million tons.

In the country's ports, in addition to unloading and loading of goods, special attention has been paid to the issue of development, and there is no port for which a development project has not been defined or is not being implemented, and for the Ports and Maritime Organization, developing and creating infrastructure and New capacities are always on the agenda, Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development added.

Regarding the development of Makran coasts and Chabahar port, Rastad stated that with the completion of the first phase of Chabahar port development, its capacity will be increased to 8 million tons and one of the most modern container terminals will be created in the region, which will have the capacity of accepting 100,000 ton ships accepted. Acceptance of large ships is very important and Chabahar enjoys proper conditions in terms of depth. In this year, Chabahar port has experienced a 90% increase in unloading and loading of non-oil goods compared to the same period last year.

Rastad added: The contract of the Indian company is interim operation and subsequently the BOT contract will be in effect, which is mainly the supply of strategic port equipment. the first equipment will enter the country and be put into operation by the end of the year.
due to the activities of this port operator in chabahar, 40 percent discount  has been considered by the Indian government for shipping lines operating from Indian ports to Chabahar and vice versa for transit of goods, exporters and importers.
