Iran Ports Handle 235 Million Tons of Cargo
April 10, 2025 – a total of 235 million tons of cargo handled at Iranian ports during the Iranian calendar year 1403 (from March 2024 to March 2025), reflecting significant growth in maritime activity. The figure includes both bulk and containerized cargo operations.

PMO News Portal – During the year, PMO-managed ports processed 82.3 million tons of oil cargo and 152.5 million tons of non-oil goods. In total, 103 million tons of oil and 131.8 million tons of non-oil cargo were handled, contributing to the overall total.

 

In container operations, PMO recorded 3.1 million TEUs handled in 1403, a 13% increase from the previous year’s total of 2.7 million TEUs. This growth highlights the expansion of container capacity and improved port efficiency.

 

The figures underline Iran's growing importance as a key hub for regional and global trade, with increasing port capacity and operational efficiency in both general and containerized cargo sectors.
