PMO News Portal - Mohammad Rastad on the impact of the
Corona virus outbreak on the loading and unloading of goods in ports, stated
that Corona was a global challenge faced by all countries, the issue affected
the supply and demand chain of goods and consequently the demand for cargo
shipping also reduced.
Rastad Added: In 2019, the world maritime trade volume was
11 billion tons, which had increased by about 2.6 percent compared to 2018, but
now this number has decreased by about 10 percent compared to 2019, and this
shows that the corona virus has already had a negative effect on the world's
shipping trade. As UNCTAD (United Nations Conference on Trade and Development)

more than 54 million 850 thousand 218 tons of various cargoes have been
unloaded and loaded in the country’s ports, which indicates the uninterrupted
activity; the deputy of read and urban development emphasized.
Mohammad Rastad concluded: Iranian ports have good
conditions in terms of infrastructure and equipment. in terms of port
infrastructure, our annual capacity is 246 million tons and there is no shortage
of capacity in accepting all type of ships.
