PMO News Portal - Regarding the dredging of Bushehr port canals, Managing Director of ports and maritime organization stated that this project has been implemented with a total credit of 1,900 billion Rls. within 20 months; and The total volume of dredging in this project is estimated at 5 million and 750 thousand cubic meters.

The canal of Bushehr port is currently 10,030 meters long and 150 meters wide with a dredging volume of 5 million 42,146 cubic meters and a final level of -10.8 meters; The area for passenger wharf is 300 meters long and the average width is 100 meters with an initial volume of 84,417 cubic meters with a final level of -7.5 meters. Until now, only vessels up to 15-ton could call the port, but now, with the increase in the depth of canals, 30,000-ton vessels can berth in Bushehr port, said Mohammad rastad.

Rastad emphasized: In Bushehr port, we are looking to adjust the atmosphere from the traditional and enclosed area to a more open space, which is the development of Negin Island which can be add upup to 500 hectares to the port area.

To build superstructure facilities and equipment, we are looking to enjoy the capabilities of the private sector in this port, and we are sure that in addition to government infrastructure investment by the Ports and Maritime Organization in the field of superstructure facilities, proper investment by The private sector can be expected.

By operationalizing the access canal in Bushehr port, ships up to 30,000 tons will be able to call the port; Having a suitable access canal for berthing large ships will be an important feature for Bushehr port, and in addition to this project, the passenger traffic capacity between Bushehr port and khark Island and the southern countries of the Persian Gulf will also be provided.

Considering that most of the ports' activities are dedicated to basic commodities and Imam port is now a hub for basic commodities, the plan is to distribute the load of imports of such goods among the main ports of the country. Certainly, Most of these goods will be imported through Imam port and shares of basic commodities load will be directed to Shahid Rajaei and Chabahar ports along Bushehr port.
