Iran, Oman to establish a joint maritime cooperation committee
Managing Director of the Ports and Maritime Organization and the Deputy Minister of Transportation of Oman, discussed the implementation of the provisions of the MoU on port and maritime cooperation between the two countries

PMO News Portal - In an online meeting with Oman Deputy Minister of Transportation, Ali Akbar Safaei; Managing Director of the Ports and Maritime Organization pointed to the opportunity to activate the Ashgabat agreement for the transit of cargo from Central Asian countries and Afghanistan to Oman, and said: PMO is fully prepared in this regard and several meetings have been held in Tashkent and Ashgabat to facilitate the transit of cargo on this route.

Regarding the formation of a joint maritime cooperation committee between Iran and Oman, Safaei stated that The Ports and maritime Organization is ready to arrange and hold meetings of the Maritime Cooperation Committee between the two countries.

“We invite port and maritime officials as well as private companies operating in Oman to visit Iranian ports and be informed of the existing capacities and capabilities of the southern ports of Iran.”, He added “PMO is ready to cooperate by providing the necessary infrastructure and superstructures”

The Managing Director of the Ports and Maritime Organization also highlighted the re-launch of the Chabahar-Oman passenger line and said: "The necessary measures have been taken to launch the passenger line between the two countries."
