the Republic of Azerbaijan and Pakistan and the Secretary General of the ECO
visited the port and logistics capabilities of Amirabad.
During the International Eco Tourism Event in 2022 hosted by
Mazandaran Province, Director General of Ports and Maritime of Amirabad stated
that in addition to strengthening cultural relations and tourism, ECO members
can also facilitate and accelerate economic relations. Amirabad port with
unique capabilities in the north Iran, it is the golden link of cooperation and
economic convergence of ECO member countries with Iran, especially Mazandaran
province.
ECO is an Asian political and economic intergovernmental
organization which was founded in 1985 in Tehran by the leaders of Iran,
Pakistan, and Turkey. It provides a platform to discuss ways to improve
development and promote trade and investment opportunities. The current
framework of the ECO expresses itself mostly in the form of bilateral
agreements and arbitration mechanisms between individual and fully sovereign
member states.
