PMO News Portal - Emphasizing that one of the most important
priorities in the current situation is to provide the basic commodities needed
by the country such as wheat, corn, barley, soybeans, oilseeds, rice, sugar and
edible oils, Ravanbakhsh Behzadian said: based to the daily needs for the consumption
of basic commodities, it is vital for such goods to be cleared immediately
after entering the country's ports.
The Director General of Port Affairs of the Ports and
Maritime Organization stated that despite the difficulties caused by sanctions,
we were able to import more than 10 million tons of basic commodities through
the country's ports in the first five months of this year, which is 15% more
than the same period last year.
The storage capacity for basic commodities in the country's
ports, including warehouses and grain storage silos, is about 6 million tons,
