PMO News Portal - at the 10th meeting of the Joint Committee
on Port and Maritime Cooperation between Iran and India, the two sides
discussed issues between the two countries based on a pre-determined agenda.
Emphasis on reciprocal tariff incentives for the development
of shipping and maritime trade, review of issues related to the Indian contract
in the port of Chabahar, review of strategies to increase the transit of Indian
goods to Russia, CIS and northern European countries through Chabahar port and the
north-south corridor of Iran as well as utilizing the training capacities of
the two sides was among the most important issues raised at the meeting.
At the meeting, Khosro Saraee the Director General of
Transit, Logistics and Agreements of the Ports and Maritime Organization reported
on the latest steps taken to resolve the contract issues in Chabahar.
while emphasizing the importance of strengthening trade
relations and cooperation between the two countries, especially through
maritime transport and the port of Chabahar, Sanjay Bandopadhyay; The Deputy
Minister of Shipping of India, said: Strengthening the position of Chabahar
port from a commercial and operational perspective is one of the government's
priorities in India and this is important through measures such as holding the
International Conference on Chabahar Day in India, holding numerous working
meetings with companies manufacturing equipment needed for Shahid Beheshti port
of Chabahar.
