Planning to upgrade the loading and unloading capacities of the Iranian ports
Minister of Roads and Urban Development: Over the next 5 years, we plan to increase the capacity of ports in the north and south to 500 million tons per year to maximize Iranian ports’ capacity

PMO News Portal – On a TV program with focus on the achievements of the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development Mohammad Eslami emphasized: We are getting closer to development of third generation ports with the wide and diverse investments that are being made in the northern and southern ports. In the new generation of ports, trade and support activities are in line with maritime economy and with the help of marketing, export and transit cargo is produced and port activities are mainly export-oriented.

Referring to the attraction of 200,000 billion Rls. of private sector investment and the construction of various projects in the country's ports, The Minister of Roads and Urban Development, added: In the northern ports and on the coast of the Caspian Sea, the construction of Ro-Ro wharfs is in progress, which will be put into operation in near future. By utilizing Ro-Ro ships, we will have the opportunity to export products, especially perishable food, in a shorter time.

For the first time, the Ports and Maritime Organization has ordered the equipment and vessels needed by the country to domestic manufacturers, which has activated the country's maritime industry. Today, Iranian companies have gained the confidence to be able to resolutely prevent any destructive action resulting from sanctions, even in very large industries such as maritime and shipping.”, Eslami highlighted

The Minister of Roads and Urban Development stressed that there is no regional development on the Makran coast and the development is convergent. two powerful potentials are being developed on the Makran coast, one in Jask and the other in Chabahar; Jask will soon have an oil export terminal and become the country's largest oceanic port outside the Strait of Hormuz.
