PMO News Portal - Referring to the current status of
unloading and loading goods in the country's ports, Mohammad Rastad stated that
with the outbreak of the Corona virus, extensive restrictions were placed, but
by following the protocols, we kept the maritime and port sectors active.
The Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development added: Capacity,
infrastructure and equipment of ports have enabled us to avoid any shortage in
terms of international standards for unloading and loading of goods in ports. We
have special wharfs and terminals for all kinds of goods, ready to offer all
types of services to ships and vessels in Iranian ports. The capacity of the wharfs
and docks have increased in line with the growing size of ships and cargo. Port
access canals are dredged intermittently to avoid problems for ships.
“The capacity of ports in 2014 was 170 million tons, which
today has increased to 250 million tons and will reach 280 million tons by June
next year. currently, private sector investment in the country's ports has
reached 160,000 billion Rls. and there are 300 active port development
contracts, which include the construction of superstructure, equipment and
infrastructure.”, Managing Director of PMO concluded.
