PMO News Portal - During signing ceremony of 2 contracts for
the supply and delivery of 10 pilot boats and the Memorandum of Understanding
between the Ports and Maritime Organization and Iran University of Science and
Technology, Mohammad Rastad stated that PMO is a pioneer in relying on and
trusting the domestic power in manufacturing and scientific research. In the
past, most of the naval and port personnel were sent abroad for specialized
training, but Fortunately, this capacity is available today in terms of
infrastructure to open a specialized faculty of logistics and maritime
transport at the University of Science and Technology in the near future.
Referring to the contracts for the construction of vessels
required by the organization in domestic shipyards, managing director of PMO emphasized:
according to the Marine Industries Transformation Plan, 83 of the ports fleet
needed to carry out governance tasks will be built by domestic companies on the
north and south coasts of the country. in this meeting, the contract for the
construction of 10 pilot boats will be signed.
Rastad added: in the process of construction the
vessels domestically the country, we expect the contract for the construction
of 34 more vessels to be finalized and concluded by the end of this year. So
far, 60,000 billion Rls. have been allocated by the Ports and Maritime
Organization to build the fleet needed for the country's maritime industry.
