In addition, in the last 8 months, more than 23.7 million tons of various goods entered the country through commercial ports and by maritime transportation system, which combined dry bulk goods with 19.5 million tons and a share of 82% is ranked first. Respectively, container goods with 2.8 million tons and a share of 12 percent, general goods with 813 thousand tons and a share of 3.4 percent and liquid bulk goods with 434 thousand tons and a share of 1.8 percent are in the next ranks.

Passenger Transport

Accordingly, during the mentioned period, despite the outbreak of corona virus, passenger transportation activities, especially maritime tourists, were completely stopped at first and then carried out with observance of health protocols and instructions. about 4.2 million passenger transportation operations in ports with 21,000 trips by passenger vessels was recorded.

Nominal and container capacity of ports

Also, during the last 8 months, the Ports and Maritime Organization invested more than 135,000 billion Rls. from its internal resources in order to carry out infrastructure and equipment projects to improve and develop the capacity of the country's commercial ports. The nominal capacity of ports is 250 million tons and the container capacity has been increased to 7.8 million TEU, and currently, maritime passenger terminals have a capacity of 24.7 million passengers.
