the third meeting of the working group for reviewing the draft of the Caspian
Sea Search and Rescue Memorandum between the Caspian littoral states attended
by representatives of Iran, Azerbaijan, Russia, Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan, Nader
Pasandeh noted that Positions and policies of the maritime sector of the
Islamic Republic was announced and discussed.
In this meeting, representatives of the General Directorate
of Maritime Safety and Protection, Legal Office and General Directorate of
Transit, Logistics and Agreements of the Ports and Maritime Organization, as well
as experts of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as the Iranian delegation, presented
their expert views.
“Due to its sensitive and urgent nature, Marine search and
rescue requires that all relevant and competent bodies be fully prepared and
coordinated to provide assistance to those in need at sea. As the seas and
oceans are often extended far away from land, and the area is covered and ruled
by coastal states adjacent to each other, it is necessary to develop and
implement agreements in this regard between countries in different parts of the
world.” Director General of Maritime Safety and Protection of PMO said.
In this meeting, the provisions of the mentioned draft were
discussed and reviewed by experts and representatives of the five Caspian
countries.
