PMO News Portal - Mohammad Rastad on the sideline of the
inauguration ceremony of Chabahar port and marine projects, which was attended
by the Minister of Roads and Urban Development, stated that The project
progressed with the extend of the demand and has now reached a favorable status
in the region.
Despite the impact of the outbreak of coronavirus on the
world economy, Iranian ports, including Chabahar, grew by 100 percent, with 180
times growth in transit of goods and 38 percent of growth in non-oil exports,
said Mohamad Rastad
He added: 3 shipping lines have been established between
Chabahar and India, which is an important factor in increasing transit. In
order to make the best of the capacity of Chabahar port, we need to develop hinterland,
roads, railways and airports in this area to boost development activities and increase
cargo transit.
In the target set for the first phase of Chabahar port, the
capacity is 8 million, and for the second phase, this amount is set to reach30
million tons, so the capacities in the hinterland will not be adequate to meet
the amount of traffic, so the development of port capacity and the hinterland
must be balanced side by side. The annexation of Shahid Beheshti Port to
Chabahar Port is a great achievement and we were able to experience a very good
interaction in this field between the Ports and Maritime Organization and the
Chabahar Free Zones.
