country's ports due to the berthing of roro vessels, Farhad Montaser Koohsari stated
that in order to transfer truck traffic from the country's roads and land
borders to the sea, as well as direct transportation of trucks, including full
And empty through the northern ports of the country to the Caspian littoral
states, The Ports and Maritime Organization has offered an 80% discount to roro
vessels. The set discount on tolls and costs associated with roro vessels in
the northern ports of the country will be in place for one year.
The Deputy of Ports and Economic Affairs of the Ports and
Maritime Organization added: By offering this discount, shipping companies
operating in the Caspian Sea are expected to be encouraged to take advantage of
this opportunity for establishing regular lines and transport companies to connect
trucks to roro vessels and transit of goods to the Caspian littoral states.
Amirabad port is completing the final stage of its RoRo dock,
which is the first train ferry dock in Iran. The Ports and Maritime
Organization considers the construction of the wharf with objectives such as
the need of the global economy to form multimodal transport, increase the share
of transit of commercial goods, bulk and oil products of Central Asian
countries through Iran to open waters and also the need to use rail transport
to increase rail transit capacity.
