increase in container loading and unloading operations at Chabahar Port

The volume of container loading and unloading operations at Chabahar port have increased by 103 percent compared to the same period last year.

According to the port and maritime organization news portal, loading and unloading operations of oil and non-oil cargos have increased by 40 percent since the beginning of this year.
Mr. Behrouz Aghaei stated that loading and unloading operations of non-oil cargos had also increased by 59 percent compared to the same period last year.

He added, “development of infrastructure facilities and equipment and granting special incentives to owners and investors in maritime fields has caused the growth in cargos and container traffic at Shahid Beheshti port in Chabahar.”

Director General of Ports and Maritime Affairs of Sistan and Baluchestan Province stated, “in case the government allocates the dismemberment of 20 percent of essential goods to Chabahar Port, this port will become one of the most competitive ports in the Oman Sea region in transiting goods to Afghanistan and Central Asia.”
