PMO News Portal - Ali Abdul-Alizadeh, while visiting
Amirabad Port, referred to the plans for developing a sea-based economy stated:
"Given the agreement between the governments of Iran and Russia to
exchange up to 40 million tons of goods between the two countries through
import, export, or transit, these transactions certainly require strengthening
and developing infrastructure."
Representative for the Development of the Sea-Based Economy
noted: Currently, the country's northern ports in the Caspian Sea have a
capacity of between 20 and 25 million tons of goods for operations and transit,
and to increase it to 40 million tons, we must use road and rail terminals in
addition to developing port infrastructure.
