No Port Operators SanctionedMilitary Entities not Operating in Iranian Ports

The Managing Director of the Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO) announced that no problems existed for operators and contractors active in Iranian ports that would constrain or disrupt their operation.

He stressed the participation of private operators in all northern and southern ports of the country: "We have privatized the operation of commercial ports in competitive conditions, and limitations resulting from sanctions are not predicted for the activity of the mentioned operators and contractors."

Mr. Mohammad Rastad elaborated that PMO's policy was concentrated on maximal use of domestic companies' potentials, and infrastructural projects had been widely delegated to Iranian contractors.

He then mentioned different contractors to have worked in ports commensurate to the project volumes: "The largest work of Phase III in Shahid Rajaee Port Development Plan has recently entrusted to a completely private contractor, meaning that PMO is not constrained in any way for using the potentials of the Private Sector for the national infrastructures."

In response to the question whether any operator dependent on military entities was currently active in any Iranian port, the PMO's Managing Director clarified: "Military organizations are not involved in the operation of our commercial ports, and most operators are companies subordinate to private entities."
